Announcing: The Doors at Dusk and Dawn, a Shattered Sands Novella

By  |  2 Comments

Over the next several months, I’m going to be releasing four different novellas, all from the Shattered Sands universe. Three of them have appeared in various anthologies. One, however, will be all original. That fourth one is nearing completion, and I’m set to release it next month. But I thought it’d be fun to share a peak at the cover to give you a sense of what it looks like.

I’m working with artist René Aigner for all four novella covers, and I’m shooting for a common aesthetic between them. Similar palettes, framing, and typography, but different core images and color balances. Here’s the first, a story called The Doors at Dusk and Dawn.

It tells the tale of Leorah, Çeda’s great grandmother, whom we meet for the first time in With Blood Upon the Sand. In the story, Leorah and her sister, Devorah, become wrapped up in the plot of one of the Kings, who has come to the desert to participate in a famed horse race known as Annam’s Traverse. What follows, neither Leorah nor Devorah could ever have predicted. It’s a tale of adventure, intrigue, and how far we’ll push ourselves to protect the ones we love.

The Doors at Dusk and Dawn will release sometime in late August. More news as I have it!

Yeah, I’m going to work up some print books. Maybe hardcovers to start with. I’m not 100% sure yet, though. I’ll announce something about that in the coming weeks.
