My Big Fat Winter Giveaway!
UPDATE – THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Thank you so much to everyone who donated so generously to Worldbuilders and other charities this year!
Hi everyone. I hope your winter admidst the Coldpocalypse of ’14 is going splendidly.
A while back, I decided I was going to give away some books. I had all these plans of running it in September and calling it My Big Fat Fall Giveaway. Time went on, and, well, it seemed kind of silly to call it My Big Fat Fall Giveaway when it was November, and then December. More to the point, the books I had earmarked for this were just sitting there. I wanted to find them a good home, and time was a wasting.
As it turns out, maybe the delay was a good thing anyway.
I’ve participated in Worldbuilders the past several years. And last year, I chipped in to Mark Lawrence’s Children’s Hospital charity drive, the Million Dollar Bookshop. Taking a page out of Mark’s book (not literally, you understand; that’d be plagiarism, and it’d be wrong, no matter how tempting it may be), I’m going to give away these books to anyone within the US that can send me proof that they’ve donated $30 or more to Worldbuilders or a Children’s charity (hospital or otherwise). Each person will get a trade paperback copy of The Winds of Khalakovo and The Straits of Galahesh. I’ve got 20 sets total. First come, first served. (Note that these are all the original Night Shade Books versions, first editions.)
Also, I have three Advance Reading Copies of The Flames of Shadam Khoreh. There were only ten of these printed in total, so they’re quite rare. For anyone who sends me proof of sending $50 to either Worldbuilders or a Children’s charity, I’ll send you an ARC of Flames.
Why US only? Well, have you seen international shipping rates lately? They’re craaaaazy. (Read: prohibitively expensive.)
But fear not, my out-of-country friends, I’m going to make 20 additional e-copies of Winds and Straits available to anyone from out-of-country. Same rules apply. Just send me proof of a donation of $30 or more to Worldbuilders or a Children’s charity, and I’ll send you the e-books (EPUB, MOBI, and PDF). Again, 20 sets total. First come, first served.
Note that this can be retroactive as long as the donation comes from this winter (let’s say November of 2013 through now).
Ok, the mechanics. How do you let me know? If you already have my email, just ping me. If not, please use my Contact Page. There’s no upload capability there, but I’ll shoot you back an email and we can manage it that way. And as to what constitutes a charity, I’m not going to be overly picky about it. The point is to do some good and hopefully I can pay you back in kind in some small way.
Thanks much, and please spread the word via your social networks! I’d love to find these books good homes and spread a bit of good cheer as well.
