I Love the Smell of Hugos in the Morning. Smells Like … Victory
It’s award season again, isn’t it? I can tell, because, well, it’s January. Unfamiliar with the Hugos? You can hop on over to the 2013 Hugos site to learn more about the process, what’s eligible, how to vote, and so on. Basically, it’s things published or things “done” in the 2012 calendar year. I say things done because there are awards like Best Editor Long Form, Best Editor Short Form, and, as you’ll see below, Best Fancast.
I’m not eligible for many of the awards, as most of my focus was on working on my trilogy, but there are a few, including a nod to my editor, the venerable Ross Lockhart. Here are the awards I’m eligible for or my editor is eligible for:
- Best Novel, The Straits of Galahesh
- Best Editor (Long Form), Ross Lockhart
- Best Fancast, Speculate, the Podcast for Writers, Readers and Fans
I’ll also make you a deal. If you’re eligible to vote, and you’d like to get a voter copy of The Straits of Galahesh, please email me via my contact page with proof of your eligibility (your name on the attendee list for WorldCon 2012, 2013, or 2014, the email confirmation or receipt for your membership, etc.) and I’ll gladly send you a copy in the format of your choice (PDF, EPUB, or MOBI).
Whatever you do, though, if you’re eligible, vote!
