A nice jump in sales

I won't talk often about sales figures, mostly because the data that I get from Bookscan is rather fuzzy, but I thought it interesting that last week, sales of The Winds of Khalakovo jumped 50%. Now, the copies sold weren't Pat Rothfuss numbers, so these kinds of things will happen, and yet I find it odd, since the last 8 weeks or so had been quite steady. And it's not a bump from WorldCon since the sales figures are from Aug 8th to Aug 14th. It could certainly be an aberration, but here's hoping that word is spreading and more readers are enjoying the book.

Whether or not it's due to word of mouth, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's passed the word along. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

    The conversation:
Me: "Age of Sail type stuff with FLYING SHIPS."
    Various friends: "Steampunk?"
    "No way, fantasy?"
    "Black powder and magic?"
    Kind of sells itself, really.

Thanks so much, Samuel! It’s nice to know it has a bit of traction.

Good call. It may indeed be that.

Glad to hear it, but it doesn't surprise me…onwards and upwards is clearly the trend for an excellent book like Winds.
