The final production version of The Winds of Khalakovo!!!
I kind of feel like I'm holding it for ransom, and I guess in a way I am, but the price is quite reasonable, and I'm sure you'll be happy to pay it … if you ever want to see your book alive AGAIN!!!
The back turned out really cool, too. The most awesome cover designer (Rebecca Silvers) used the world map for the background with this attractive maroon tone. And the back cover copy is place on this great aged scroll. It's really quite stunning.
Here's one last part that I'm really tickled about. The final page is the "About the Author" page. The picture is one that Joanne took of me on an author-photo picture day in Milwaukee last fall.
I remember looking at pages like these from early on, well before I thought about writing a book of my own, and thinking: Wow, how cool would it be to be an author? Turns out, it's pretty damn cool. Sure, I understand the industry a lot better now, and of course it's not all roses (far from it!), but there are days that make it all worthwhile.
This is one of those days.

Awesome! Can't say it enough, how very very cool. So happy for you, Brad!
Thanks, Bill! You’re not going to be in SE Wisconsin in April, are you? I’m going to have a book launch party. Still working on the final date, though.
Yay! That's so exciting! I can't wait to see the book in person. Congratulations, Brad!!
Thanks, Barb! Are you headed to WisCon?
Very nice! Congratulations!
Thanks, Terry!
Won't be at WisCon this year. It's on the list of cons I'd like to get to soon, though.
I'll definitely see you at GenCon!
Awesome stuff Brad, I really like the fnished product.
Thanks, Patrick. I like the heft of it as well. It’s not a doorstop, but it’s got some nice gravitas to it. Just about right, I’d say.
Yay yay yay!!!! I can't wait to get a copy of my very own!
Thanks, Kelly! If you’re up for the launch party, there’s one with your name on it. Otherwise I’ll be sending you one.
Look how shiny that is!
I know! Thanks, Mary!
Hey Brad, I don't know if you'd remember me, but we were at Viable Paradise together (VP VII). Congratulations!!! Your novel looks very interesting. How can I get a copy. Amazon? Kindle? My first was published last year. Check out http://www.AsWorldsBurn.com
Working on the 2nd as we speak (surfing the web cause I'm stalling this morning).
Hey, Jim! Sure, I remember. Congrats on your novel. I’ll be sure to check it out. And yes, Amazon will have both print and e-versions available. Good to hear from you.
I've already said this on Speculate!, but just to do it again: congratulations, Brad. And it's a really good book.
Thanks a lot, Greg!
Oh, <i>hooray</i>! Assuming funds come through, I can't wait to celebrate with you at WisCon.
Or, you know, minus the HTML.
Yay, Shveta! Can’t wait to see you there. I *may* have a party there, but that’s still TBD. At the very least, we’ll celebrate!
Brad congrats – can’t wait to get a copy from Amazon –
cheers
Looking good btw
Fauzi
Hey Fauzi,
Great to hear from you. And thanks so much for picking up a copy. I hope you enjoy it!
